Ho Ho Haaarrrrgggghhhhhhh!

We’ve reached that wonderful time the year that I both love and hate.  I love the festivities.  I love the music.  That guy on the corner ringing the bells?  Love him too.

But everything is *sooooooo* busy!  I’ve had something going on almost every night this week and stayed at work late almost every night too.  Everyone has something that they want to do that requires “special” help, and I don’t have the heart to tell anyone “no”.  And, to make matters worse, the blessed school district picked now to be the time for a new project.  (And, if that wasn’t a dirty enough trick, they told the teachers in advance that they had new equipment coming.  The only people on earth that exhibits more impatience than a child waiting for Christmas is a teacher waiting for new equipment!  Oy!)

I’ve been trying to get my Christmas knitting done, but it’s not going as well as I’d hoped.  I started my sister-in-law’s family’s project a few weeks ago and was sure I’d fly through it.  I’m not at the point where everything is waiting for finishing.

Snowmen

I’m kind of a picky pants at times, and I’ve decided that the thinnest snowman just isn’t what I wanted.  I was aiming for a family of six, with a Snow-Momma that was slightly smaller than the Papa Snowman.  That thin one is downright pitiful though.  So I’m back-tracking and knitting another one of the biggest snowmen.

Unfortunately, with everything going on, I’m still trying to get my stuff together to finish them.  I finally bought the right size wire yesterday at lunch.  I’m hoping that I’ll have tomorrow evening and Saturday morning to finish the faces and buttons on them.  Stay tuned.

I’m also trying to get a pair of wristwarmers done for the little grump, a neckwarmer done for one of my friends, a still patternless felted critter for another dear friend, and…. and…

Oh heck… There’s only 11 more days  (plus a few hour) until Christmas.  I can keep dreaming, but there’s no way everything is going to get done.  So tell me… Which is better?  A late handmade gift?  Or an on-time gift from the store?

Late & handmade definitely. I haven’t knit on dads scarf since Tuesday. Tommorow? The boys sleep over their nana’s house. So I should have more TIME. Though i will still have ms. Bundle Of Energy who gets into everything around.

Oooh, they’re so cute! I love the big round guys in the front. I know how you feel about the not enough time thing… as much as I am looking forward to Christmas I just want a few more days between now and then 🙂

Can’t wait to see the finished snow family! I’m still trying to finish up my holiday knitting too: three more mitts, about six inches of scarf, and at least one more pair of socks. Ack! Clearly we are both optimists.

I can’t wait to see the finished snow family. I think that a late handmade is so so so much better then an on time store bought gift.
