Happy New Year!

2007 - The Year of the Stuffy

I had so much fun with my knitting in 2007. A few of the ladies in the knitting group teased me about my “critter addiction”, but I don’t care. It’s hard to explain the joy that comes when a new stuffy is given life, when others “Ooh!” and “Ah!” over each new creation, or when my daughter squee-ed when I handed her a new finished stuffy. Altogether, I did 28 stuffies. (One little snowgirl is not shown in the picture.)

I also did some charity knitting. Two scarves were given to Mission Arlington. I made a couple hats that went to a chemo group. I made some squares for the Greensburg project and knitted a couple items for my school auction.

I made a few gifts (including the infamous stuffies and two pair of felted baby booties). My favorite gift-project of the year was the hat/scarf/mitten set that I made for the daughter of a good friend (followed very closely by the brilliant Chevron scarf). I only did one pair of socks (though I started two other pair that ran into troubles).

In the following year, I plan to continue with my addiction. No apologies! CraftyAlien has more patterns that I haven’t completed, and I have a Bobby Bear pattern that I want to do. Marie Mayhew has promised that there are more great patterns in the works. And then there are the Alan Dart gnomes and snowmes. (Sorry, Angela… I just can’t help myself!)

I also plan on knitting more socks. I have a mountain of sock yarn to use!

A baby boom has occurred at work (I’m staying away from the water fountains!), so I need to make some gifts for the new moms.

I also want to do some lace. I’ve never done lace before, so how can I not participate in the Year of Lace?

I need to make myself a new bag.  I knitted my current bag over two years ago.  The Booga Bag has worn tremendously well, even without lining, but the straps have started to go.  So I want to make a new one.  Maybe something cably and lined.

Finally, I want to finish off some of my projects that have either gone wrong or gotten stuffed to the side while I roll on to the next project that excites me. I will have those Wollmeise socks! One way or another!

Those are my New Year’s resolutions. We’ll see how well I stick to them!
