Yikes!! Zombies!

I am in that time of the year when I’m really, really busy.  I have to finish the school yearbook.  Then I need to do the PTA scrapbook.  Then I have inventory of all the fixed assets in the school.  Then it’s the rush to the end of the year to finish certificates, diplomas, and preparing for the next year of school.

So what do I do?  I signed up for Sock Madness.  I figured that I’d likely be eliminated in the first round, but I wanted to try.  Besides, they had great patterns last year.

I finally started the socks on Monday.  I picked a really fun Cherry Tree Hill mill end in purples, oranges, and turquoise.  Unfortunately, the pattern was lost in the colors.  So I frogged and started over.  (It was a prime example of great pattern and great yarn not combining to be a great knit.)

It’s going slowly (due to my lack of knitting time), but it’s going.

Zombies

The color is really hard to capture.  It’s rather the color of honey.  The yarn is Lisa Souza Sock! Merino in the Cam-Oh colorway.  When I ordered the yarn months ago, I was rather disappointed that it didn’t really seem to match the swatch from the site.  (The swatch was tan, green, and white.  Do you see any green there?)  However, I held on to it, thinking that it might be a good gift for a friend that loves that color.  As I dug through my stash to find a good yarn for the Zombie socks, this one just seemed to jump out at me. (Sorry friend.)

It is working well with the pattern, but I’m not sure I would buy this particular kind of yarn again.  I love Liza Souza’s colors (even if they don’t match the swatch), but this yarn is rather fuzzy.  It makes dropping the stitches much harder than it has to be.

Still, I’m loving the project.  I just wish I had more time to devote to it right now.

Speaking of which… I have lots of work to do!  Later!

Go girl! You can do it, I know you can!!! There are still quite a openings left to move on – so you have a really good chance of making it to the next round. Hopefully, with the holiday, you’ll have a bit more time.

I do love the color, but I know what you mean about merino. It’s a lovely soft yarn, but those fuzzies that make it so soft also make it a bear for dropped stitches. It’s a love hate relationship with me 🙂

Keep up the great work. I’m looking forward to seeing you move on to the next round.

    Have a great day!

Oh yeah, lovely color choice. Yes, it might be a bad time of year… Yes, there are other things to distract us (holidays, anyone?), but on the other hand, there’s the competitve spirit!

Organizers have set a deadline of Tuesday to finish these socks. I know you can do it! Knit knit knit on your lovely Cam-oh Zombies…. Camel Zombies… what do Camel Zombies eat?

    Your Zombies are gorgeous!

I just came by to cheer you on. (Even though I’m in the UConn Cast Ons, I’m a Tennessee girl at heart.) There’s plenty of spaces left, so keep knitting.
