My best pal here came over and let me help her shop for a new microwave. Seems her 4 year old daughter decided to attempt to microwave a can of soda to see what it would do. The results were fatal to the microwave and to the girl’s bottom.
My friend bought the microwave (with a child lock… what a great idea!) and then we went to lunch. We laughed and laughed over her daughter.
Then we fumed a bit over my daughter’s school who, despite the fact that I work my butt off for them, act like they would rather not have me around.
Then we went to pick her daughters up from school. (Oldest daughter, a year older than Ellie, is in the school for the gifted. Youngest daughter, microwave specialist, is in preschool.)
In about an hour and a half, we’re going to go to soccer practice.
Funny thing is that, the whole time, my friend was trying to peek at her watch to see what time it was. After about the 20th time, I asked her, “Are you late?”
She said, “No! I’m just wondering how Alan is doing!”
My friends may not be all that great at getting my mind off things, but they certainly are a caring bunch.
